Outreach

As Pennsylvania’s only land-grant institution, Penn State has a responsibility to the people of the Commonwealth. To fulfill that responsibility, we work to see that the Gerontology Center's scholarship--our research and outreach activities--help to improve the quality of life enjoyed by the people of Pennsylvania. The Center works with the faculty to build translational activities that will create bridges among researchers and providers, policy makers, and other professionals.
Because of our interest in aging, health and adult development, our research can improve the lives of persons, assist their families, and help to build stronger communities. The Center is part of the College of Health and Human Development. The College is uniquely positioned to be an academic leader in extending that knowledge to health care professionals, school personnel, human service workers, community leaders, parents, and many others through its outreach programs. The Center has a tradition of hosting conferences and workshops that allows professionals to discuss innovations in research and fosters interdisciplinary colleagial partnerships. Through continuing and distance education programs we deliver up-to-date information to diverse audiences. Our international partnerships allow us to keep current with advances made around the globe and to improve the quality of research conducted.
