International Program in Aging Research

June 9-19, 2008, Jönköping, Sweden
Graduate credits in Biobehavioral Health

The International Program in Aging Research is a new and unique opportunity for graduate and post-doctoral students in biobehavioral health and related disciplines to explore insights into the multi-facetted and complex mechanisms of aging provided by the study of mammalian models.

This two-week summer institute is offered by the College of Health and Human Development at the Pennsylvania State University in collaboration with the International Biogerontology Resources Institute (IBRI). It will be held from June 9-19, 2008 at the Jönköping University in Sweden.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Engage in an intensive learning environment presented by top researchers in the field of biogerontology.
  • Earn graduate level credits in Biobehavioral Health from the Pennsylvania State University.
  • Gain an international perspective through interaction with biogerontologists from around the world.

Interested Students

Students for whom the course will be particularly relevant include graduate students and post-doctoral students at Penn State and other universities who wish to explore the possibility of a research career in biogerontology and are interested in mechanisms of aging and disease. Professional gerontologists who wish to use mammalian animal models for gaining new insights into their particular areas of research may be especially interested in the program. The course will be taught at the level of graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and other professionals from diverse backgrounds. Individual research projects will be designed and tailored to student goals for those who register for Mammalian Models in Biogerontology (BBH 597A).
