Graduate Minor in Gerontology
The interdisciplinary graduate minor in gerontology is administered by a committee of faculty. The committee members represent diverse programs within the University. Students admitted to the minor will develop a course of study which includes both prescribed course work and additional course work audited to the student's interests. The minor course of study will be developed jointly by the student, the student's academic advisor, and one member of the graduate minor committee. The minor requires a minimum of 10 credits at the master's level with a minimum of 3 credits at the 500-level; and 15 credits at the doctoral level with a minimum of 6 credits at the 500-level, 10 of which are prescribed.

- SOC 435/HDFS 434 Social Gerontology (3)
- or SOC 535 Sociology of Aging
Doctoral students must select a minimum of 5 additional credits from among the following courses:

- NUTR 512 Nutrition and Aging (2)
- SOC 535 Sociology of Aging (3)
Gerontology-related special topics courses (SUBJ 497, 597) or independent studies (SUBJ 496, 596) are also allowed.
